Marillion Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage pharmaceuticals company focused on the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics for the treatment of cancers and for supportive care in oncology. Marillion’s product pipeline includes Lu-AMBA, Pilobuc™ and MN-201.
Lu-AMBA is a first-in-class receptor targeted therapeutic agent for the treatment of hormone resistant prostate cancer, advanced metastatic breast cancers and non-small cell lung cancers. Lu-AMBA is able to deliver a proprietary compound that targets and binds to specific receptors found on certain cancer cells, thereby allowing a potent radioactive drug to be internalized into the tumor cells. Subsequently, the tumor is irradiated from within, increasing the therapeutic efficacy while helping to protect critical organs. Lu-AMBA can also be used to image cancerous tissue in order to help select patients and adjust the dose used for personalized medicine. Early clinical proof of concept for Lu-AMBA has been demonstrated in advanced hormone resistant prostate cancer patients in a phase I clinical trial initiated in Europe. An IND for a phase I/II clinical trial in the USA is expected to be filed in 2009.
Pilobuc™ is a novel, proprietary, buccal insert of the approved muscarinic agonist, pilocarpine, for the use of Xerostomia, a debilitating loss of salivary gland function associated with radiotherapy for head and neck cancers and various autoimmune disorders including Sjögren’s syndrome. Pilobuc™ has completed phase I and phase II clinical trials in Europe and is expected to enter phase II/III clinical trials in the USA in 2009.
MN-201 is expected to be the first synthetic vitamin D5 receptor ligand to be advanced into clinical development for a variety of cancers. An IND was approved for a phase I clinical trial of MN-201 in the USA in 2008. |
